International News: During a samba dance in Brazil, a British youth met three girls. They talked, and all four reached a bar on the beach. Here the girls bought a cocktail drink; the youth drank two sips and lost 16 thousand pounds, i.e., about 19 lakh rupees. When the youth regained consciousness in the hospital and inquired, he was told that he had become a victim of the Goodnight Cinderella scam.
This incident is from the city of Rio de Janeiro, where a British youth had come to spend his holidays on the Ipanema beach. Here three women robbed him. Before this, he had taken two sips of a drink. CCTV footage of this has also gone viral, in which it is seen how the youth was victimized.
The 21-year-old engineering student, who was visiting Brazil for the first time, said, "After taking two sips of the cocktail, I do not remember anything." He said that I tried to fight the intoxication, but by the time I reached the beach, the intoxication had overpowered me. The police have identified the accused in this case as 23-year-old Amanda Couto Deloca, 26-year-old Mayra Caitlin Americo da Silva, and 27-year-old Rayane Campos de Oliveira. The youth said that he was in Brazil for 10 days. I had gone there to celebrate the graduation of a fellow student.
This is a new method of scam in Brazil in recent times. In this, the girls first start talking to the foreign tourists, then take them to a pub or bar by luring them into the conversation. Here they make them drink and then rob them of whatever they find. Most of these girls are call girls.
According to the police, this method of robbery has been named the Goodnight Cinderella Scam. Most of them do not even file a report because they are tourists. According to the police, even those who file a report are not able to prove the allegations, and the girls go free. Earlier this month also, a tourist was made a victim from whom 13 thousand pounds were robbed.
The British victim was a university student, and he met three girls during a Saba dance. It was decided during the conversation that the three would go to a bar in the evening. Here the girls took a Caipirinha cocktail, after two sips of which he became intoxicated; he had a scuffle with the girls, after which he went to the beach and fainted after being raped.
After this the girls quickly ran towards the taxi and fled from there. According to the young man, when he regained consciousness, he came to know that a delivery man had called an ambulance and admitted him to the hospital.
Campos de Oliveira, one of the three women who preyed on the British youth, was earlier sentenced to six months in jail. She has been arrested 20 times before this. The police have also caught the taxi driver who fled with these girls, although there is no evidence yet that he was involved in this. The case is being investigated, and an advisory has also been issued to be cautious while meeting strangers.
